JOSE Rizal University hardly broke a sweat in dispatching Emilio Aguinaldo College as it came away with a dominant 77-48 victory in the NCAA Season 93, Tuesdat at the Filoil Flying V Center.
Coming off a disappointing 48-54 loss at the hands of San Beda, the Heavy Bombers bounced back strong after regaining its stroke on offense and its defensive teeth.
The Heavy Bombers limited the Generals to 33 points through three quarters, as Ervin Grospe and Jed Mendoza carried them on offense to improve to 3-3 for the season.
The duo even outscored the whole EAC squad in the third quarter, combining for 16 in the period against the Generals' 11 as the Bombers padded the lead to as many as 35, 65-30.
"I gave them two days off then tune-up kami against FEU, we treated tht as an actual game," said JRU head coach Vergel Meneses as they had an 11-day break after that defeat to San Beda.
"If this team were playing to our potential, hindi ako matatakot whoever ang kalabanin namin. Sa kanila ako takot eh, sa JRU ako takot," he added.
Grospe finished with 19 points and five rebounds while Mendoza chipped in 15 markers and three assists.
They also found a gem in 19-year-old rookie Abdul Sawat, which fell a rebound short from notching a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds.
The Generals, which looked like a team ready to contend, looked a few steps behind in this game and dropped to 3-4 for the tournament.
As a team, they made just 16 of their 69 shots good for 23.1 percent. Their free throws weren't any better as they made just 12 of 33 freebies in probably the worst offensive display of the season.
Jeric Diego and Jerome Garcia led the Generals with 13 and 12 points, respectively, but no other player scored five points or more in the game.
