EMILIO Aguinaldo College ended its campaign in the NCAA Season 93 on a high note, adding to Perpetual Help's misery with an 83-81 win on Tuesday at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan.
The Generals leaned on the hot shooting of Jerome Garcia in the end game to snap a five-game skid.
Garcia scored 10 points in the fourth period, including back to back baskets, with his step back jumper in the 37.8 second mark giving the Generals an 82-77 lead.
But he nearly turned from hero to goat when he fouled AJ Coronel from the three point line with 1.6 seconds to go, and the Generals up by just four.
They dodged two bullets, first when Coronel missed a potential four point play by missing the triple before Prince Eze botched a potential tying basket after Coronel intentionally missed his third foul shot.
The Generals managed to salvage a 7-11 record in a season saddled with injuries, including a season ending ACL tear on star foreign recruit Hamadou Laminou.
The Altas, on the other hand, dropped their seventh straight game to fall to 4-13.
Garcia led the Generals with 22 points while Jethro Mendoza added 17 markers.
Playing in his final collegiate game, Sydney Onwubere had 15 points, nine rebounds and four assists.
"Yun yung focus namin this season pero yun nga. At least, nalagpasan namin yung record namin last year. Hopefully, for the guys, makatulong to for next year," said Onwubere.
"Mamimiss ko yung crowd, yung drums, yung fans na sumisigaw. Yun yung pinakamamimiiss ko. Very grateful ako sa EAC community," he added.
Prince Eze had 21 points and nine rebounds to pace the Altas as GJ Ylagan added 17.
