JOSE Rizal University scored its third win in the NCAA Season 94 as it completed a season sweep of Emilio Aguinaldo College, 81-78, on Thursday at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
Jed Mendoza played like a man on a mission as he charged an inspired JRU attack late in the game to steal the win from the Generals.
Mendoza scaterred 12 of his 26 points in the payoff period as JRU fought back from nine points down.
The Heavy Bombers improved to 3-13, a win away from head coach Vergel Meneses' target this season.
Darius Estrella also had a solid game for the Heavy Bombers with 17 points, four boards and four assists, as Leo Esguerra continued to show improvement and scored 10 points.
JRU eyes win No. 4, and a trip to Bohol as Meneses promised, when they take on the struggling St. Benilde Blazers on Tuesday.
JP Magullano led the way for the Generals with 15 points and 14 rebounds as they ended their season at 4-14.
