IVAN Panapanaan scored the game-winning basket at the buzzer to lift Jose Rizal University to a thrilling 79-77 win over Arellano University in the NCAA Season 101, Wednesday at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.
With the game tied at 77 in the dying seconds of the game, Arellano's Maverick Vinoya missed on a short stab which gave the Heavy Bombers one last shot at the buzzer with five seconds left.
With a live ball off a rebound, Allen Laurenalia pushed the basketball towards Sean Salvador before the rookie found a leaking Panapaan who scored an uncontested lay-up to win the game for the Heavy Bombers who now tied Letran at the third and fourth spots of Group B with a 5-4 record.
“Alam ko naman and sinabi ko naman sa kanila na lalamang kami, lalamang sila, magrurun kami, magrurun kami pero ang importante e ‘wag silang bibitaw sa sistema,” coach Nani Epondulan said.
“Nagka-run sila pero we didn’t go out of our game plan so I’m just so happy na lumabas ‘yong maturity ng mga bata.”
