THE Frankie Lim effect on Perpetual Help is clearly in full swing now as the hosts continue to reach new heights in NCAA Season 94.
Following a 74-68 win over Mapua, the Altas have now surpassed their number of wins from last season as they improved to 5-2 under the tutelage of the four-time NCAA champion coach.
They have no plans of stopping there.
“The goal is to achieve more wins as much as possible. And, you know, while we are on a roll, we just want to feel good about ourselves,” said Lim.
“We want to play cohesively as much as possible. I want to see unselfish players inside the court. Yun lang ang ano namin, you know? I think doing those things, it's gonna help us a lot in us winning games,” he added.
What makes the run of Perpetual so amazing is the fact that Lim is working on 11 new players this season. Only Prince Eze, AJ Coronel, Rommel Mangalino and Anton Tamayo are the holdovers from last season, while Kim Aurin is the only new player for the Altas who has had prior NCAA experience after playing two seasons for JRU.
“I have 11 new players. Don't forget that. Siyempre, ngayon lang sila nakapaglaro dito sa NCAA, except for Kim ano? Well, the others, medyo kahit papaano bigyan ng konting leeway, ng lugar,” Lim explained.
“We saw good things, lalo na last game. Noong second half of our last game. We only had two turnovers. Those are our good signs. At least we're doing something good,” he added.
His team riding high on a three-game winning streak, Lim is confident that they will continue to soar so long as his squad stays within the system and on track with their improvement.
“Mataas naman yung kumpiyansa ko sa kanila. You know? It's just a matter of taking care of the ball, and executing our defense and our offense.”
