PERPETUAL Help pulled off one magical play in the endgame as it pulled off a thrilling 78-76 comeback win over San Sebastian in its the NCAA Season 94 in front of its home crowd on Thursday.
Coach Frankie Lim dug deep into his bag of tricks and found his encore in the endgame as Prince Eze scored the game-winning basket off an AJ Coronel lob with half a second remaining in the game.
A three-pointer by Arjan dela Cruz tied the knot at 76 with 3.3 seconds remaining in the game only to be foiled by a well-executed play from Lim to complete their comeback from 21 points down.
Kim Aurin found a curling Coronel on the baseline before the veteran forward hoisted a pass to an overplaying Eze to win the game and improve to 3-2.
"I would really go to Prince for that last shot. It was a tip-in, not the prettiest shot but he made it. Beggars can't be choosy," said Lim.
"We were down 21 in the first half and you win by two points, it's a great win for us," he added.
The Altas found themselves trailing in the second quarter, 39-18, as the Allyn Bulanadi-led Stags looked untouchable in the first half.
But Edgar Charcos and Coronel came to life as they led the Altas' comeback before letting Eze takeover late.
Eze finished with 22 points, 18 rebounds, and six blocks as Charcos scored 17 of his 18 points in the second half.
Coronel, meanwhile, had all his nine points in the final 10 minutes.
Bulanadi led the Stags with 21 points, 12 rebounds, and three steals as Alvin Capobres added 19 for the now 3-5 Stags.
