EVAN Nelle looks to continue repaying San Beda’s faith by staying with the Red Lions in the NCAA.
The 19-year-old Nelle won the finals Most Valuable Player award the in 2015, the last time the Red Cubs won the juniors tournament, and Nelle hopes to become champion anew as he joins the Lions.
“I owe San Beda a lot kasi San Beda made me. I owe it a lot to coach JB and to the community so parang I want to pay it back,” said Nelle.
Nelle recognizes that he still has a long way to go and is eager to learn from the veterans led by NCAA Season 93 finals Most Valuable Player Robert Bolick.
“I just want to watch them how it is in college. I want to learn from them and ask for advice. I will also try to compete well sa kalaban namin and work hard,” said the San Beda high school guard.
In his final season with the Red Cubs, Nelle averaged 9.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, 7.5 assists and 1.3 steals.
Nelle also finished his high school career with a bang, earning the Slam Rising Stars Classic Most Valuable Player award together with Ateneo’s Kai Sotto.
“I just to really have a good game kasi it’s my last game as a high school player. I want to cherish the moment and I want to play for San Beda,” said Nelle.
