Egay Macaraya suspended one game, asked to issue apology for unsportsmanlike conduct
Aug 6, 2019

SAN Sebastian coach Egay Macaraya has been slapped with a one-game suspension for unsportsmanlike conduct during a timeout in a game against Lyceum two weeks ago.

The NCAA Management Committee (Mancom) handed the penalty on Tuesday after a review of the tapes in the Golden Stags' tiff against Lyceum Pirates on July 23.

NCAA issued a statement but did not provide details of Macaraya's violation in the game won by the Pirates, 80-69. Macaraya was caught on video during the huddle telling a San Sebastian player to slap the hand of Lyceum center Mike Nzeusseu, who had missed several games due to a hand injury.

"Macaraya was meted a 1 game suspension, he is also to make a public apology and community service," the NCAA said in the statement.
