EMILIO Aguinaldo College finally got its first win in the NCAA Season 94 in thrilling fashion, outlasting San Sebastian in overtime, 79-77, on Friday at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
JP Magullano had a breakout game of 30 points and 17 rebounds to power the Generals from 22 points down, before Hamadou Laminou took over in overtime as EAC hacked out the thrilling win.
Laminou and Jerome Garcia each came away with a split with eight seconds left for the final count.
They dodged multiple bullets in the end game as Allyn Bulanadi missed a forced shot before Ken Villapando's three point attempt went in and out at the buzzer.
"Sabi ko lang sa kanila dapat yung execution puso na, hindi na galing, how you will handle the pressure," said coach Ariel Sison as EAC took its first win after five tries.
"Nakuha namin yung gusto naming mangyari, nastop namin ang baste at naconvert namin yung field goal, nakaka-isa kami," he added.
Laminou and Garcia added 13 points apiece to steady the ship for the Generals, but the biggest story of the night was certainly Maguliano, who got huge praises from Sison.
"I benched him the last game, he delivered today. Good for the team na di kami nagrerely lang sa first group. At least yung second group nandyan," Sison said.
Michael Calisaan paced the Stags with 23 points and 10 rebounds as Allyn Bulanadi returned with 13 points and 10 boards.
Bulanadi's return however wasn't enough as the Stags dropped to 2-4.
