MOVING from one collegiate contender to another is never an easy decision, which made Denzil Sison-Walker’s transfer from the University of the Philippines to Letran all the more impactful.
After a title run in his lone year with the Fighting Maroons in Season 87, Sison-Walker wanted a bigger role, regardless of which league that comes in.
And when 6-foot-4 scorer entered the market, Letran shotcaller Allen Ricardo made sure to have all the right answers Sison-Walker needs.

“That's, just what was best for my future,” Sison-Walker told SPIN.ph.
“And once I decided that I was leaving, Coach Allen showed a lot of interest in me and I felt like Coach Allen—out of the coaches that did reach out—had the most genuine interest for me and my future.”
“Just the things that me and Coach Allen talked about. And as you can see, it's coming into fruition right now.”
And come to fruition that is.

Sison-Walker opened his ‘rookie’ year with the Knights to the tune of a 21-point, two-steal performance against Perpetual, before following that up with 25 points built on four triples in Friday’s thrashing of San Sebastian.
“For us, it was a good win. We still need to, you know, tighten up a couple things, but for the most part, it was a good win. We got the we got the rookies involved. The veterans did their job. So yeah. Good win, but still not satisfied,“ he added.
Rookie? think again
Like his fellow NCAA newcomer and former UP teammate in Aldous Torculas, Sison-Walker carries the rookie tag despite entering the ‘Grand Old League’ as a veteran and UAAP champion.
But even with the rookie tag following the 23-year-old guard around, it’s the complete opposite of how he carries himself on and off the court.
“On paper, I'm an NCAA rookie, but I would consider myself one of the vets. God-willing, I can contribute to the championship sooner rather than later," he shared.
Even with three full playing years still on his belt, chipping in to their redemption campaign has been an objective that Sison-Walker sought to fulfill as soon as he was activated for Muralla.
And with the way he's playing in the first two games? He's doing a pretty great job so far.
