THE second round of the NCAA Season 93 started with a bang, filled with overtime thrillers, controversial decisions and sustained impressive individual performance.

With the league once again postponing the games due to inclement weather, Spin.ph once again gives you the rundown on who impressed as the first week of the NCAA kicked off.

Lyceum just continues to roll and CJ Perez is just making it look easy now.

Two wire-to-wire wins against Mapua and St. Benilde to open the second round only proves the heads of these Pirates are right where coach Topex Robinson wants it to be.

In the middle of this continued surge, Perez remains consistent with averages of 18 points and nine boards in the two blowout victories.

Just imagine what the Baby Beast’s numbers would look like in close games.

Prince Eze may easily be the most dominant player in the NCAA today.

The second-year Nigerian import came up with yet another eye-popping game as he towed the Altas to an all-important 88-82 overtime victory over the tough fighting Letran Knights to allow themselves to get back to the final four race.

In that game, Eze finished with 21 points and 19 boards, hitting a huge turn around fade away jumper with 40 seconds left to give the Altas the lead for good, 84-78.

Rence Alcoriza took charge for Arellano in a 118-112 double overtime thriller over Jose Rizal University.

With Kent Salado again opting to assume the role of a facilitator, someone had to carry the load on offense for the Chiefs and it was the little-known Alcoriza who filled the void.

Alcoriza finished with 23 points on 7-11 shooting from the field to lead the Chiefs in that crazy game as the Chiefs returned to winning ways.

It’s too bad his explosion was overshadowed by Zach Nichols’ heroics but the Chiefs wouldn’t be on that point without Alcoriza.

Like Eze, Gab Dagangon also had a huge game against the Knights.

The veteran forward played in his best game of the season, finishing with 21 points and five boards to tow the Altas back into the comeback trail with regard to the hunt to a final four slot.

It has been an inconsistent season for the Davaoeno so far but it’s never too late to turn it around.

His performance against Letran where he looked like his old self – scoring acrobatic lay-ups, hitting pull-ups and fade away jumpers off the post - could exactly be just what Dagangon needs to pump him up this season.

With Robert Bolick banned from their second game in the second round against St. Benilde, JV Mocon remains as the only consistent Red Lion in this list.

Steady would be the perfect term to describe Mocon’s game as he has been a constant contributor to coach Boyet Fernandez’ squad this season.

His numbers may not be as eye-popping as others, but it’s his reliability night in and night out which makes him such a valuable piece for the defending champions.

In their two wins to start the second round, the veteran forward is averaging 10.5 points and 10 boards per game while allowing his teammates to shine more on offense.
