LYCEUM used a huge second half to put away Mapua, 96-90, and stay unscathed in the NCAA Season 93 on Tuesday at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan.
The Pirates weren't as dominant as they were in the first round but they still got the job done, rolling to their 10th straight win.
A slow start had them up by just five against the struggling Cardinals, 48-43, by the half.
However, a huge third quarter saw the Pirates break the game wide open for good.
Coach Topex Robinson got quality minutes from reserves Ralph Tansingco and Sam Marata as the Pirates opened a 16-point lead late in the third.
The Cardinals had one more fight in them with JP Nieles leading a late comeback but that proved to be too little too late as they suffered their ninth straight loss to drop to 1-9.
Despite the win, coach Topex Robinson was far from happy with his team's performance.
"Again Mapua is a good team. The fact that (Andoy) Estrella wasn't there, if he was there it would've been a different story. We didn't play our usual game, we didn't honor the game," said Robinson.
"That's been the challenge to us. If we want to stay on top, there's a lot of responsibilities that come with it. Hopefully, his will be a wake up call to us that any team can beat us if we let our guards down," he added.
CJ Perez once again led the attack for the Pirates with 22 points on 8-of-11 shooting and pulled down nine rebounds.
JC Marcelino added 19 points and six rebounds as Tansingco and MJ Ayaay chipped 10 points apiece.
Leo Gabo paced the Cardinals with 21 points as Christian Bunag continued his solid performances for the Cardinals with 18 points and 14 boards.
