LYCEUM secured at least a playoff for a twice-to-beat advantage in the NCAA Season 94 as it smothered Mapua, 92-76, on Tuesday at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

CJ Perez was at his best in the Pirates’ huge second quarter where they opened a 23-point spread, outscoring the Cardinals, 32-15.

Things got a bit chippy in the third quarter after Jasper Salenga and MJ Ayaay got entangled at the 3:11 mark of the third period, with the Pirates comfortable up 65-48.

Both players were assessed with technical fouls while Lyceum coach Topex Robinson was assessed a T of his own because of unsportsmanlike behavior.

The Pirates improved 14-1 for the tournament while the Cardinals dropped to 4-11.

"I'm really happy to see my players find their groove. There’s so much lessons from losing. It's going to be tough in our next three games but this game is a good preparation for us," said Lyceum head coach Topex Robinson.

"I'm trying to make sure that my players are protected. Not against the other team, but I want my players protected. The referees did a good job after that. Na-control naman yung emotions," he added.

Perez once again carried the charge for the Pirates as he finished with 20 points and 11 assists as JC Marcelino continued to play splendid basketball without his twin brother JV to finish with 14 points and six boards.
