LYCEUM moved two wins away from completing a historic season sweep of the NCAA Season 93 after smothering Letran, 81-69, on Friday at the Filoil Flying V Center.
The Pirates improved to 16-0, doubling their total number of wins last year as they continue to tear through competition in the tournament.
CJ Perez just made everything look easy by firing in 24 points, including 10 in the final seven minutes of the game, to turn back every rally from the Knights who gamely tried to bounce back to no avail.
Back-to-back lay-ups from Perez shut the door on the Knights for good as the Pirates opened a 79-66 with 43 seconds left in the game.
The Knights dropped a crucial game but still remained at the fourth seed with an 8-8 record, half a game ahead of San Sebastian at 7-8.
"Again, it’s really fun to watch if you see our players having fun playing their hearts out and honoring the game," said Lyceum coach Topex Robinson.
"It's the inspiration that’s really been there," he added.
MJ Ayaay added 12 points, Mike Nzeusseu had 11 points and 13 rebounds as JV Marcelino also contributed 11.
The loss spoiled the return of Jeo Ambohot, who came back from a fractured wrist late in the first round.
He finished with eight points and three blocks.
JP Calvo led Letran with 15 markers.
