WITH a solid performance against St. Benilde, Calvin Oftana of San Beda has been voted NCAA Player of the Week for the second time this season.
The veteran forward scored a personal-best 29 points while adding nine rebounds, five assists, and two steals in San Beda's 95-73 triumph over the Blazers in NCAA Season 95.
Oftana is the first player to be given the Chooks-to-Go Collegiate Press Corps citation twice this season, picked by print and online scribes covering the league by besting over San Beda James Canlas, Mapua’s Noah Lugo, San Sebastian’s Allyn Bulanadi, and CSB's Justin Gutang.

The Red Lions are unbeaten in 17 games.
“Simple lang naman sinabi ko sa players noong halftime: mahiya naman sila sa sarili nila,” said San Beda coach Boyet Fernandez, challenging his wards as they trailed CSB at the half.

“They've been playing well for the first 16 games, then why be different in the 17th?”
Oftana scoring 13 of his output in the third quarter as San Beda took control.
The frontrunner in the MVP race, Oftana is putting up 14.6 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.2 blocks.
