BONBON Batiller had the championship right in his hands when Jerrick Balanza found him wide open underneath, the game clock ticking down and Letran trailing San Beda by a solitary point.

There is no better case of letting a huge opportunity slip - literally.

What would have been a night of celebration for the Knights turned into gloom as the ball slipped out of Batiller’s hands, allowing the Red Lions to come away with a 79-76 win and tie the NCAA Season 95 finals series at one apiece.

Para sa akin ako ang nagpatalo sa game,” Batiller said as he fought back tears at the end of a thrilling Game Two at the Mall of Asia Arena.

While the transferee out of University of the East put all the blame to himself, what keeps him going is the fact that he never heard anything from his teammates.

In what was easily the lowest point of his career, Batiller finds comfort in being around supportive teammates that he considers family.

Kung anong kailangan namin binibigay nila,” he added.

Now the 25-year-old General Santos City is primed for a huge bounce back.
