ARELLANO got back into its winning ways in the NCAA Season 94 as it compounded on Jose Rizal University's struggles with a 79-70 win on Friday at the Filoil Flying V Arena.
Maui Sera Josef had a breakout game with 17 points and nine boards as the Chiefs got back to winning ways following an 88-70 destruction from Letran last week.
The Heavy Bombers were pretty much in the game until midway through the fourth until they fired blanks late.
Michael Canete and Ian Alban then took charge in the fourth to lead their breakaway and improve to 3-3, while keeping the Bombers winless in seven games.
"Medyo ang tagal din bago namin nakuha ang combination namin sa defense and offense namin. Talagang malayo pa, medyo nagkakanya kanya," said Arellano head coach Jerry Codiñera.
"Si Maui stretch four, we were able to match up with the players of coach Vergel (Meneses), because talagang binibigyan kami ng sakit ng ulo," he added.
Canete also had a solid game with 15 points, nine boards, and two blocks as Alban added 14 points, five rebounds, and four assists. Levi dela Cruz and Kent Segura added 14 and 10 respectively.
Jed Mendoza was the lone silver lining for the Bombers as he finished with 23 points and five rebounds in a losing cause.
