PRINCE Eze made some big plays in the endgame to propel Perpetual Help to a gutsy 69-65 win over College of St. Benilde in the NCAA Season 93 on Tuesday at the Filoil Flying V Center.
Eze had two big offensive rebounds that led to easy baskets as the Altas pulled off an escape act against a very game Blazers side.
His putback with 48.3 seconds to go gave the Altas the lead for good, 66-65 before he followed up on a Keith Pido miss from the foul line to give his squad a three point cushion.
The Altas then made some key stops, forcing the Blazers to a huge turnover on the next possession, before Matt Johnson sent his three point attempt long to seal the win for Perpetual.
"Swerte kami nanalo kami sa first game with how the turnovers pero ganyan talaga kasi first game," said Perpetual assistant coach Jimwell Gican.
Gab Dagangon led the Altas with 14 points and 10 rebounds while GJ Ylagan and Jonathan Yuhico added 12 apiece.
Eze had 11 points, 12 rebounds and five blocks while Flash Sadiwa finished with 10, highlighting Perpetual's balanced attack.
"Siyempre lahat pa kami naga-adjust. Pero maganda rito nakakakita kami ng iba't ibang tao na nagse-step-up," said Dagangon.
Kendrix Belgica led the Blazers with 16 points before spraining his ankle late in the game.
St. Benilde however put the match under protest as the Altas wore the wrong uniform in the match.
