THE light has never been so green for Allyn Bulanadi as coach Egay Macaraya has given him the license to take the lead for San Sebastian in his senior year.
"It is his last year and I'm focusing him na maganda ang paglabas niya sa San Sebastian," the soft-spoken mentor shared. "I told him to give his 100 percent every game and bring the team kung saan kami madadala.
"This is his last chance and nakikita naman natin na ginagampanan niya ang trabaho niya."
Macaraya's words have fired up Bulanadi who has risen to become one of the top players this NCAA Season 95, as evidenced by his averages of 17.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.1 steals, and 1.1 blocks.
On Thursday, the Davaoeno forward took it to another level as he unleashed a career-best 32 points on 5-of-12 clip from deep, to go with four rebounds, three steals, and two assists to lead the Golden Stags to an 83-67 thumping of St. Benilde.
Bulanadi had no one else to thank but Macaraya.
"Sa akin lang, nagpapasalamat ako kay coach Egay na nandyan sila palagi nakasuporta sa akin, di lang sa akin kundi sa aming lahat," he said.
The 21-year-old Swiss army knife is valuing the responsibility vested in him as one of the team's leaders.
"Kailangan ko lang gampanan yung responsibility at suklian yung trust na binigay nila sa akin para sa team," said Bulanadi.
That's why even if he's in the running for the MVP award, placing third in the statistical points race, the 6-foot-3 swingman puts more weight on San Sebastian's quest for its first NCAA title in 10 years.
"Yung individual award, palaging pangalawa lang yan. Yung goal para sa amin is yung championship," he said.
