EGAY Macaraya was all praises for returning forward Alfren Gayosa who is making steady progress that was expected of him after an impressive Juniors career.
Gayosa had 15 points and six rebounds while playing solid defense in San Sebastian’s win over College of St. Benilde.
Macaraya was so happy that he went as far as saying the 22-year-old forward has what it takes to make the pros.
“Kung titignan mo si Alfren, pang PBA material talaga at 6’2 na malaki, defensive, and maraming magagawa," said Macaraya.
The former PBA D-League champion coach admits to watching Gayosa back when he was just in high school where he turned heads and garnered multiple offers from different schools, before eventually heading to University of Sto. Tomas.
With his move to Espana not materializing exactly as he planned, Gayosa went back home and is now starting to get his career back on track.
"Nung bumalik siya sa San Sebastian, nung first year niya, medyo wala pa siya sa kundisyon eh," Macaraya continued.
"Now that he is in playing form, alam naman natin na nung juniors ito, isa ito sa mga pinakamagaling ng San Sebastian. And now he’s getting his rhythm. I hope na magtuloy tuloy na."
Gayosa is thankful Macaraya welcomed him back to the Stags' fold and he vows to do everything to not put that to waste.
"Gusto ko lang magpasalamat kay coach sa binibigay niyang tiwala atsaka sa kumpyansa na binibigay niya sakin," Gayosa said.
"Kailangan yung mga distraction matanggal sa isip ko para magawa ko yung pinapagawa ni coach."
