ABY Marano was one proud girlfriend as Robert Bolick was able to cap off his collegiate career with San Beda with a title, something she wasn't able to do back in her time in La Salle.
"Sobra itong special kasi wini-wish ko talaga na grumaduate siya with a championship kasi hindi ko naranasan yun. Sabi ko, sana ibigay Niya kay Robert yung championship para maramdaman niya yung saya despite lahat ng struggles na pinagdaanan niya before," she said after the Red Lions' 71-56 Game 2 victory to sweep Lyceum and claim the NCAA Season 94 title.
When the final buzzer sounded, Bolick immediately rushed to the stands and gave Marano a kiss as they reveled in another triumphant season for the Mendiola crew.
The victory was also made special by San Beda completing the three-peat, the same feat to that the La Salle Lady Spikers achieved in UAAP volleyball from 2011 to 2013, where Marano was the captain.
"Special din kasi both kaming nakaranas ng three-peat. I'm very happy for him," said the F2 Logistics middle hitter.
For Marano, she's glad that everyone now knows how good of a player Bolick is, far from that who rode the pine during his brief stint with the Green Archers in the UAAP.
And enough testament to that is the 23-year-old playmaker being touted as one of the top three selections in the upcoming 2018 PBA Rookie Draft.
"Matagal na yun binura ni Robert. Tapos na yung nangyari sa kanya sa La Salle. Isa lang yun sa mga struggles na pinagdaanan niya para magkaroon siya ng extra push to do so much more in basketball," she said.
"Matured na siya kaya every single game sa NCAA, binibigay niya ang sarili niya para sa San Beda. Motivation niya ngayon ang pagmamahal ng community ng San Beda."
Regardless on where Bolick falls in the annual rookie proceedings, Marano is just proud that slowly, her beau's dreams is within his grasps.
"Gusto ko lang makarating siya sa PBA kasi before pa lang kami magkakilala, yun na talaga ang dream ni Robert. Natutuwa ako kasi malapit na niya ma-achieve ang pangarap niya," she said. "First pick, second, o third, wala akong masasabi doon basta happy lang ako na makapasok siya ng PBA."
