LYCEUM of the Philippines University secured the commitment of three Filipino-American prospects, as it gears up for its voyage in NCAA Season 100.
Desmond Pyne, a 6-foot-5 forward who played for Desert Oasis High School in Las Vegas, committed to the Pirates and will be immediately eligible for the oldest collegiate league's new season starting September 8.
Also joining him after their one-year residencies will be transferees Jovan Abregana and RA Brucal. The former is a 6-3 wing coming from De Anza College, while the latter is a 5-10 combo guard moving from Seton Hall.
“On behalf of LPU, we consider ourselves fortunate to have them on our team,” said fourth-year head coach Gilbert Malabanan.
“They will be a significant part of our program in the years to come as we strive to create an environment where inspiration thrives and camaraderie flourishes."
Ready-made replacement
The Pirates will be heading towards Season 100 without top gun Enoch Valdez, who's now suiting up for the NLEX Road Warriors, as well as burly big Shawn Umali, who transferred to Benilde.

Pyne will be a big boost in filling those voids, even as homegrown products John Barba and Mac Guadana take the helm.
LPU went on a surprise playoff run in the last NCAA season, but is currently struggling through the Filoil EcoOil 17th ECJ Preseason Cup with a 2-6 record.

Shakeup for the Junior Pirates
Further taking care of its future, LPU has officially aligned its seniors and juniors programs.
As Malabanan continues to steer the ship for the Pirates, ex-pro Al Vergara will now take over the Junior Pirates.
Under JC Docto last season, LPU finished second to last in the NCAA juniors at 2-7.
