MILO Janao got his act together in overtime as he towed San Sebastian to a come-from-behind 86-81 victory over EAC-Immaculate Concepcion Academy Friday in the NCAA Season 95 juniors basketball tournament at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The second-year sniper scored five of his 14 points in the extra frame as he helped the Golden Staglets come back from a seven-point fourth quarter deficit, 59-52.
Louise Concha topped San Sebastian with 16 points and six rebounds, while Rafael Are added a double-double with 13 points and 11 boards, with three assists. Are's layup with 22.5 seconds remaining tied the game at 74.
The Brigadiers still had a shot to win the game in regulation, but Adrian Balowa's desperation three could not find the bottom of the net as the clock expired.
Dylan Darbin and Janao then took over for the Golden Stags in the overtime period as their defense kept their foes in check before cruising to the hard-fought win.
"Medyo hirap pa rin ang mga bata dahil walang kumpyansa. Para kaming lumusot sa butas ng karayom kasi galing kami sa talo. Pero sabi ko sa kanila, maniwala lang kami sa sarili namin. Buti nagstep up yung iba," sighed coach Melo Banua.
Darbin scored nine points, James Una also got things done down low with nine points and 14 rebounds, and Charles Lustina got seven points and 12 boards.
San Sebastian improved to a 3-5 card, while sending EAC-ICA down to a 1-8 slate.
Ron Encila topped the Brigadiers with 16 points and three rebounds.
Balowa shot a horrendous 5-of-26 shooting from the field and wound up with 14 points and eight boards, while JR Ilustrisimo got 12 points on a 4-of-16 clip, to go with 10 rebounds.
