    Amsali stars as San Beda Red Cubs pull away late vs Staglets to stay unbeaten

    RHAYYAN Amsali guided San Beda to its fourth straight win in the NCAA Season 95 juniors basketball tournament with an 89-73 clobbering of San Sebastian Friday at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

    The Gilas Youth stalwart scattered 21 points, eight rebounds, three assists, and two steals as the Red Cubs remain as the only unblemished team in the tourney.

    San Beda shook off a lackadaisical first three quarters and poured 29 in the final frame to turn a tight 60-56 lead to a 16-point blowout.

    Yukien Andrada collected 14 points, seven rebounds, three blocks, and two dimes, as Charles Delfino got the job done on the point with 11 points, nine assists, and four boards.

    It was a tough stand for the Golden Staglets, but the loss continued their roller-coaster ride to fall to 2-2.

    Milo Janao scored 21 points on a four triples, on top of six rebounds and two assists to carry the fight for San Sebastian.

    Nikko Aguilar added 13 points, two rebounds, and two assists, as Kim Bulasa and Dylan Darbin had 12 and 10, respectively.

    Jose Rizal University also pulled off a tight 77-74 win over Lyceum.

    Condrad Famaranco topscored for the Light Bombers with 15 points, five rebounds, and two assists.

    Gholam Garcia and Raul Gentalan both tallied 13 points and five rebounds each, while Arlen Lenon also had 13.

    JRU rose to a 4-2 record, while Lyceum suffered their second straight defeat to fall to 3-2.

    The Junior Pirates had a chance to force overtime, but Mac Guadana's trey in the endgame clanked off the rim.

    Guadana missed all of his six attempts from deep to corral 18 points, 10 rebounds, three steals, and two assists in the losing cause.

    Gyle Montano led Lyceum with 21 points, seven rebounds, and three assists, while John Barba chipped in a double-double with 14 points, 13 boards, three dimes.

    In the nightcap, Arellano made it three straight wins with a 76-67 triumph over EAC-Immaculate Concepcion Academy.

    Danren Nepomuceno led the way in the all-out attack with 13 points and four rebounds, while Ivan Salinel also got 13.

    Chris Recto scored a double-double with his 12 points and 10 rebounds, as Marc Lopez got 10 points and five boards for the 3-1 Braves.

    Adrian Balowa was the lone bright spot for the winless Brigadiers as he had 19 points, five rebounds, and two assists.
