SAN Beda High School tightened its grip on the third spot with a big 63-50 conquest over San Sebastian Thursday in the NCAA Season 94 juniors basketball tournament at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The Red Cubs staged a killer third-quarter assault, outscoring the Staglets, 21-8, to turn a close 26-23 halftime lead to a commanding 47-31 advantage.
Winston Ynot was the lone player from his side to notch double-digits in scoring, with 10 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Batang Gilas player Joshua Lazaro had nine points, 12 rebounds and two blocks, while Josiah Alcantara aded eight points and two boards.
The win helped the Red Cubs stay in contention for a twice-to-beat advantage in the Final Four as they improved to 10-4 behind La Salle Greenhills (11-2) and Malayan (10-3).
Milo Janao paced San Sebastian with 10 points on 1 of 6 shooting, on top of three rebounds.
Kean Baclaan got seven points on a horror 1-of-9 clip, as well as grabbing 12 rebounds in the defeat as the Staglets dropped to a 5-9 card.
