    San Beda Red Cubs make it two in row with OT win over Mapua

    SAN Beda recovered from a slow start and racked up back-to-back wins in the NCAA Season 94 juniors basketball tournament, beating Mapua High School, 98-93, in overtime on Friday at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

    Zach Estacio powered the Red Cubs with 24 points, four rebounds, and two assists, while Yukien Andrada got 15 points and six boards.

    Jade Talampas notched a double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds, Justine Sanchez missed out on a double-double with 14 points and nine boards, and Cyrus Llarena got 12 points and six assists as San Beda evened its record to 2-2.

    Mapua fought back from 25-points down with a 32-point fourth quarter as Clint Escamis led the fightback to force overtime at 85-all.

    But the Red Cubs were just too much for the Red Robins as Estacio and Sanchez took over in overtime.

    Escamis wound up with 24 points, 17 coming in the second half, on top of three rebounds and three steals for Mapua (3-2).

    Roseler Sarias also got 24 points and three rebounds, while Dan Arches got 17 points, four assists, and three boards.

    In the second game, Milo Janao exploded for 30 points as he carried San Sebastian to a 78-71 win over EAC-Immaculate Concepcion Academy.

    John Pinero provided the support with 11 points and eight rebounds and Miguel Bonalos had nine and nine for the Staglets (3-3).

    The three made up for the sluggish showing of Kean Baclaan, who only had seven points, eight rebounds, and three assists against six turnovers in the win.

    JR Ilustrisimo was still hot for the Brigadiers with 21 points, eight rebounds, and five assists to drop to 1-4.

    Perpetual also scored an 82-78 bounce back win at the expense of Lyceum to continue its surprise run at the top.

    Joshua Gallano paced the Junior Altas with his statline of 18 points and four rebounds to improve to a 3-1 record.

    Emman Galman added 17 points and five boards, while Shawn Orgo chipped in 11 points, four rebounds, and four assists in the victory.

    Mclaude Guadana led the Junior Pirates (2-4) with 26 points, seven rebounds, and five assists in the losing cause.
