Perpetual, Letran clinch NCAA juniors tournament semis spot

Last year's finalists are seemingly on a collision course once more

PERPETUAL and Letran, last year’s finalists, clinched their respective semifinals spots with convincing victories against different foes in the NCAA Season 100 juniors basketball tournament, Tuesday at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.

LeBron Jhames Daep, the #2-ranked high school player in the country, led the Junior Altas’ blowout win of San Sebastian, 104-69.

Daep finished with 20 points while Jan Pagulayan added 15 in the win as they solidified their hold on the top seed as they improved to 7-1.

The Squires, on the other hand, punched their ticket in it by walloping the Arellano Braves, 80-72.

Jhuniel dela Rama finished with a double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds for the now 6-2 Letran.

Meanwhile, EAC forged a four-way logjam for the last two semis spots after shocking Mapua 78-71.

Kelly Coronel fronted the Brigadiers’ attack with 24 points built on five triples to go with five rebounds while Gedrick Luna added 13 markers and five rebounds as they tied the Red Robins at 5-3 alongside the victorious San Beda and La Salle Greenhills.

The Red Cubs trashed the hapless Lyceum Junior Pirates, 68-56 while the Greenies banked on Guillian Quines and Dale Ortega in their 76-54 blowout win over JRU.
