    NCAA: Umali unstoppable as Letran Squires tame SSC Staglets

    LETRAN pulled off a big 87-78 win over San Sebastian in the NCAA Season 94 juniors' basketball tournament on Tuesday at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

    Shawn Umali was the rock for the Squires down low with his 10 points, 15 rebounds, and seven assists, helping the squad win for only the fourth time in 16 games.

    Shawn Argente topscored for Letran with 18 points to go with three assists, and two boards, while Lenard Santiago added 14 points and four assists.

    John Tabajen got 11 points and two boards as Julian Culanay got 10.

    Milo Janao bounced back from his poor shooting the last time out to notch 24 points, six rebounds, two assists, and two steals for the Staglets (5-11).

    Kean Baclaan got 16 points, five assists, and three rebounds for San Sebastian.

    In the second game, Yuri Kawamura waxed hot from deep to lift Perpetual to a 95-80 win over EAC-Immaculate Concepcion Academy.

    The sniper went 6-of-14 from distance to nab 22 points and five rebounds as the Junior Altas rose to 7-9.

    Ezdel Galoy registered a double-double of 19 points and 14 rebounds, to go with his three assists and two blocks, as Emman Galman got 13 and five.

    JR Ilustrisimo paced the Brigadiers with 19 points, two rebounds, and two assists, as Cjay Boado had 13 points, four steals, and two boards in the defeat.

    EAC-ICA remained in the cellar with its 3-14 record.
