MILO Janao drained a triple at the buzzer to lift San Sebastian to a 69-68 thriller over Lyceum on Sunday in the NCAA Season 94 juniors basketball tournament at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Janao caught a pass from Joshua Perez and threw a desperation trey from the right wing and the Golden Staglets went bonkers as his shot found the bottom of the net.
It was a tough defeat for the Junior Pirates, who held a 68-64 lead with 2:17 remaining but failed to score in the waning seconds. John Barba had a chance to seal the win after intercepting a pass from Perez, but he missed his two freebies off a foul by Kean Baclaan with 3.0 seconds left, leading to Janao’s endgame heroics.
Janao led San Sebastian with 22 points, making 4 of 14 shots from the 3-point line, on top of four rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Dave Balo added 12 points and seven rebounds, while Baclaan contributed 10 for the Golden Staglets.
Lyceum fought the heartbreaker without top gun Mclaude Guadana, who is still with Batang Gilas in the 2018 Fiba U-17 World Cup in Argentina.
Barba topped the Junior Pirates with 27 points.
