    Mac Guadana triple caps late rally as Lyceum Jr Pirates edge JRU Light Bombers

    MAC Guadana drilled the game-winning trey with 13.2 seconds remaining as Lyceum escaped Jose Rizal University, 70-69, to inch closer to a Final Four berth in the NCAA Season 95 seniors basketball tournament on Friday at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

    The graduating guard drained the open triple from the right wing as the Junior Pirates fought back from a 69-65 deficit with 1:30 remaining.

    Guadana finished with 14 points, seven rebounds, and four assists as Lyceum scored its third straight win and improved to 11-6 to secure at least a playoff.

    John Barba poured in 19 points, 17 rebounds, four assists, two steals and one block, while Gyle Montano had 17 points and eight boards for Lyceum.

    Condrad Famaranco had 15 points, five rebounds, and two assists, as Jan Sy added 13 points and seven boards for the Light Bombers, who dropped to 8-8.

    In the first game, Perpetual dragged Letran out of the tournament with an 81-77 win.

    Yuki Kawamura went 6 for 17 shooting from threes to lead the Junior Altas with 20 points to go with three rebounds.

    Angelo Gelsano had a double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds, while John Escalante had 15 points, three boards, and three dimes as also-ran Perpetual notched its sixth win in 16 games.

    The Squires are out of contention with a 7-10 card.

    Andrei Romenez topscored for Letran with 15 points, five assists, and two rebounds, while CJ Saure got 12 points and seven boards.

    In the nightcap, Arellano also trumped EAC-Immaculate Concepcion Academy, 73-60.

    Danren Nepomuceno fired 16 points, five assists, and four rebounds for Braves as they rose to 10-6.

    Chris Recto chimed in 13 points, six boards, and two blocks, while John Tolentino had 12 points, four rebounds, and three assists.

    JR Illustrisimo led the Brigadiers (2-14) with 27 points and six rebounds, while Miko Macaraya scored 14 points in the loss.
