Lyceum Junior Pirates bank on balanced attack to hold off Arellano Braves in NCAA Juniors

    Sep 15, 2017
McLaude Guadana led Lyceum with 19 points.

THE Lyceum Junior Pirates outgunned the Arellano University Braves, 89-82, in the second round of the NCAA Season 93 juniors basketball on Friday at The Arena in San Juan.

McLaude Guadana led the Junior Pirates with 19 points, while Sean Sandoval added 15 markers and six rebounds. Vincent Cunanan and Ryan Arenal chipped in 10 points apiece.

Lyceum Junior Pirates coach LA Mumar credited his players for their fifth win to improve with a 5-7 win-loss record in the conference.

“Sean is a rookie and I think during the first round he was feeling his way into the team, but I think now we are starting to see the real Sean Sandoval. McLaude is only 16 years old but he’s a leader, he’s very mature, and I think he will make it big sa basketball,” he said.

That’s who we are. We are not a one man team. I’m glad that they stepped up but I’m also glad the other guys stepped up as well,” Mumar added.

“We’re very happy na we’ve been blowing leads in our last games, we’ve been up during the half pero buti ngayon hindi na kami nahabol. The guys have already learned from the lessons from our past games,” Mumar added.
