    Mac Guadana takes charge as Lyceum beats Perpetual to halt two-game skid

    MAC Guadana exploded for a career-best 33 points as Lyceum ended its two-game losing streak with a 93-81 drubbing of Perpetual Help on Thursday in the NCAA Season 95 juniors basketball tournament at Perpetual Gym in Las Pinas.

    The do-it-all playmaker poured 20 in the Junior Pirates' solid first half before putting nine in the fourth quarter.

    Lyceum took a 49-35 halftime lead before Perpetual cut the deficit down to just five, 63-58, entering the fourth period.

    There, the former Gilas Youth stalwart took over and scored seven in the Junior Pirates' crippling 20-5 run to erect an 83-63 lead with 5:34 to play. He also delivered the killer blows with a pair of freebies at the 2:22 mark that made it a 21-point game, 91-70.

    Guadana also grabbed six rebounds and dished out five assists as Lyceum improved its win-loss record to 4-2.

    "Gutom yung mga bata kasi galing kaming dalawang talo. Marami kaming natutunan doon," said coach JC Docto. "Home court nila at alam namin yung energy na makukuha nila doon, so kailangan naming tapatan yun."

    Jae Omandac added a double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds, Gyle Montano contributed 14 points and four boards, while John Barna scored eight of his 11 points in the payoff period, while hauling down six rebounds and making three assists.

    The Junior Altas suffered their fourth defeat in five games to fall to a 3-4 standing.

    Yuki Kawamura shot 6-of-13 from deep to top Perpetual with 22 points.

    Emman Galman also contributed a double-double in the losing effort with 20 points and 10 rebounds with three assists, as Shawn Orgo had 14 points, 10 boards, four dimes and three steals for the Junior Altas.
