    LSGH nips Perpetual to top 1st round as Beda stays hot in NC Juniors

    RC Calimag and Joshua David conspired in leading CSB-La Salle Greenhills to a gritty 89-83 victory over Perpetual Help in the NCAA Season 94 juniors basketball tournament Friday at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

    Calimag unfurled 25 points, six rebounds, and three assists, while David was as solid with his 24-point, nine-assist, and six-board performance for the Greenies.

    Joel Cagulangan was as steady as ever, flirting with a triple-double with his 16 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists, as Inand Fornilos remained a rock down low to nab nine points and 10 boards.

    CSB-LSGH wrapped up the first round at the top of the standings with an 8-1 record.

    Emman Galman led the fight for the Junior Altas with 26 points, seven rebounds, and two assists, while Ezdel Galoy had a double-double with his 20 points and 16 rebounds in the losing cause.

    Perpetual dropped to an even 4-4 as it fought the game without lead forward Joshua Gallano.

    San Beda also stunned Arellano, 95-68, with a superb second half windup.

    Kent Pelipel went on a 9-of-13 clip from downtown to notch 29 points, while Justine Sanchez fired 14 points, nine rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

    Penny Estacio had 10 points and five assists as the Red Cubs won five of their last six to rise to a 5-3 record.

    Rom Junsay paced the Braves with 15 points, four rebounds, and four assists, while Lars Sunga and Resty Fornis both chimed in 10 points and six boards in the defeat.

    Arellano has now lost four of last five outings to drop to an even 4-4 in the standings.

    Letran, meanwhile, got the better of EAC-Immaculate Concepcion Academy, 65-63 in a battle of cellar-dwelling teams.

    Lenard Santiago topped the Squires with 15 points and five rebounds, while Shawn Argente had 10 in the win.

    Letran notched only its second win in nine games despite missing CJ Saure, Mark Omega, and Kyle Tolentino, all of whom are serving their one-game suspensions.

    Ron Encila led the Brigadiers (1-8) in the loss with 14 points and two rebounds, while JR Ilustrisimo got 11 points, four assists, and three boards.
