    La Salle Greenhills stuns Letran at Squires' turf for NCAA lead

    SYDNEY Mosqueda led a killer third-quarter stretch for La Salle Greenhills as it snagged solo leadership in the NCAA Juniors competition following an 82-66 win over hosts Letran on Thursday.

    Mosqueda scored nine points in the pivotal third period where the Greenies finally pulled away from the stubborn hosts for good.

    Trailing by four at the interval, Mosqueda was at the forefront of a 22-5 run to take a 53-40 lead and later cruise to a comfortable victory.

    “It’s all about mental toughness. We were able to make good use of our rest day yesterday. Good thing we came out with a lot fire in this game,” said La Salle head coach Marvin Bienvenida.

    Mosqueda finished with 19 points, five rebounds, and three assists to lead La Salle to its fourth win against a single loss.

    “I’m happy for him. I hope this continues for him in the next games,” said Bienvenida of Mosqueda.

    Joshua David added 14 points, eight rebounds, and two steals while Joel Cagulangan added 11 points and seven assists in the win.

    Shawn Umali was the lone double-digit scorer for the Squires as he finished with 11 points and seven boards. The loss dropped the Knights to a deadlock at the bottom as they share 1-3 record with Emilio Aguinaldo College – ICA.
