    LSGH Greenies eliminate JRU Light Bombers to complicate NCAA juniors semis race

    CSB-La Salle Greenhills forced a three-way tie for the third spot of the NCAA Season 95 juniors basketball tourney, turning back Jose Rizal University, 76-72, Tuesday at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

    RC Calimag sealed the game with a split from the line with 9.7 seconds remaining to cap off his 23-point performance for the Greenies. He also collected three rebounds, two steals, and one assist.

    Kobe Palencia added 18 points, seven boards, and six assists, while backcourt partner Lennox Valenzuela chimed in 13 points, six rebounds, and three dimes as LSGH fended off a pesky challenge from JRU as it lost its 12-point first half leads.

    Condrad Famaranco starred for the Light Bombers with 16 points, five rebounds, and four assists, as Gholam Garcia got 12 points and nine boards in the defeat as they bowed out of the race with their 8-9 record.

    That LSGH win further complicated the Final Four picture, especially after the results of the games earlier in the day.

    San Sebastian pulled off a 63-60 stunner over Arellano to move up to joint third with their identical 10-7 cards.

    Milo Janao led the Golden Staglets with 15 points, six rebounds, and two assists, while Dylan Darbin got 14 points, seven boards, and five steals as they won back-to-back games.

    Josel Barroga also had a season-best 10 points, five rebounds, and two blocks for San Sebastian.

    Miguel Sahali carried the Braves with 13 points, while Marc Cuenco got 11 points, six boards, four dimes, and two steals in the defeat.

    In the day's opener, defending champion Mapua ended a five-game losing skid with a 74-61 victory over Perpetual.

    Jonnel Policarpio went one assist shy of a triple-double with his 15 points, 13 rebounds, and nine dimes to lead the Red Robins to a 5-12 record.

    John Parial also churned a double-double with 15 points and 12 boards, Megan Galang had 11 points and eight rebounds, and Anthony Fransman got 10 points and five boards in the Mapua win.

    Kyle Cuevas scored 19 points and hauled in five rebounds in the losing cause for the Junior Altas, which dropped to 6-11 in the standings.
