LA Salle Greenhills broke the game wide open in the first half before cruising to a comfortable finish to take a 74-66 victory over Arellano in the NCAA Juniors tournament on Friday at the Filoil Flying V Arena.
Joel Cagulangan led five Greenies in double digits as they led by as many as 20 points in the first two quarters before taking their feet off the gas pedal.
Cagulangan finished with 14 points and five assists as Joshua David finished with the same number of points alongside five rebounds and four assists.
RC Calimag, Mark Sangco and Kobe Palencia all finished with 10 points apiece as Inand Fornillos had 12 rebounds to go along eight points.
The win allowed the Greenies to keep a solid hold on the leadership as they improved to 7-1 with a game to go in the first round.
Ray Domingo came off the bench to pace the Braves with 13 points, the loss dropped them to 4-3.
The Braves’ loss allowed the Jose Rizal Light Bombers to move solo third as they dropped the EAC – ICA Brigadiers 74-69 win.
John Amores led the Heavy Bombers, who are now 5-3, with 21 points, eight rebounds and five assists as John Delos Santos chipped in 17. Ronald Bucoy chipped in a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds.
CJ Boado paced the Brigadiers with 21 points as they dropped to 1-7.
