LYCEUM closed in on a Final Four spot in the NCAA juniors tournament after a 78-74 win over Perpetual Help on Friday night at the Filoil Flying V Arena.
McLaude Guadana and John Barba carried the offensive load for the Junior Pirates, who held off a determined Junior Altas side in the endgame.
The win allowed Lyceum to leapfrog Perpetual and rise to 6-7, just a game behind idle Jose Rizal University at fourth place with a 7-6 record.
Perpetual, on the other hand, dropped to 5-7.
Guadana bucked a bad shooting night to finish with 16 points. He also made his mark on the defensive end as he finished with four steals.
Barba also had 16 points, as Joshua Jugar and Nat Tulabut added 13 and 11, respecitvely.
Yukihiro Kawamura topscored with 22 points but Perpetual failed to overcome their 29 errors which Lyceum converted into 16 turnover points.
