SAN Beda added another key piece to its rebuilding juniors team as it acquired Gilas Youth mainstay Joshua Cajucom.
Spin.ph sources bared the development as the 6-foot guard's arrival boosts the Red Cubs' bid to retain their crown in the NCAA juniors basketball wars.
Phenom Sports Management president Jax Chua and Hope Christian High School consultant Steve Tiu also confirmed the move.
Cajucom, 17, is the star of the Soldiers, and was listed as one of the top 24 high school players in the 2020 National Basketball Training Center (NBTC) 24 rankings.
He is also part of the Gilas Pilipinas Youth team which was preparing for the Fiba Asia U-16 Championship last April before its cancellation due to the global COVID-19 pandemic.
Cajucom still has two more years left in his high school career.
His arrival couldn't be any more welcome for a San Beda side which won the NCAA Season 95 crown but lost key pieces in Rhayyan Amsali, Justine Sanchez, Yukien Andrada, and Tony Ynot, all of whom have moved up to the Red Lions team.
Red Cubs coach Manu Iñigo has been intent on rebuilding his roster, adding key pieces in their title-retention bid.
Vhoris Marasigan and Michael Mara from University of the East, James Payosing and Reginald Ching of Jose Maria College in Davao, and John Mowell Morales from College of Sciences, Technology, and Communications Inc. in Quezon have all committed to San Beda, while Iñigo also added decorated mentors Joe Silva and Anton Brodett in his coaching staff.
