JONNEL Policarpio paced the MVP race in the NCAA Season 95 juniors basketball tournament after the first round of competitions.
The hardworking forward for Mapua High School amassed 51.50 players' average value (PAV) after averaging 17.1 points, 7.7 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.5 blocks.
The Red Robins' 3-6 standing, however, might affect Policarpio's bid to win the plum if the defending champions fail to make it to the Final Four.
Actually, it was San Beda's Rhayyan Amsali who topped the race with his 52.86 PAV, but the Gilas Youth stalwart is ineligible to win the MVP award after earlier being slapped with a one-game suspension.

Lyceum's power duo of Mac Guadana and John Barba are on Policarpio's heels in the list as they occupy the third and fourth spots.
Guadana collected 49.44 PAV after tallying 19.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.8 steals, while Barba has 48.13 PAV to his name with his averages of 19.0 points, 9.1 boards, and 2.9 dimes.

Red Cub forward Justine Sanchez is at fifth with his 46.44 PAV after netting 14.2 points, 8.4 rebounds, 1.0 assist, and 1.0 block.
Rounding out the top 10 are San Beda's Yukien Andrada (45.44 PAV), Perpetual's Emman Galman (44.57 PAV), Lyceum's Jae Omandac (41.56 PAV), San Beda's Tony Ynot (41.0 PAV), and LSGH rookie big man Jan Manansala (40.78 PAV).
