    John Barba, Roie Panganiban power Lyceum past skidding Arellano in NCAA Jrs

    JOHN Barba led Lyceum to a 76-61 rout of Arellano in the NCAA Season 95 juniors basketball tournament on Tuesday at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

    The hardworking forward poured 20 points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals to help the Junior Pirates win back-to-back games and remain in second place.

    Roie Panganiban had a season-best 20 points, three boards and two assists, while Gyle Montano tallied a double-double with 19 points and 19 rebounds.

    So dominant was Lyceum that Mac Guadana needed not to score much, tallying only 10 points, to go with his eight rebounds, four assists and three steals.

    Arellano absorbed its fourth straight loss to drop to 5-5 in the standings.

    The Braves banked on Marc Cuenco, who poured 14 points, 10 rebounds, and four assists in the loss.

    Earlier, San Beda annexed its winning run to five with an 83-54 triumph over EAC-Immaculate Concepcion Academy.

    Rhayyan Amsali captained the rout with 14 points, 10 rebounds and five assists as the Red Cubs stayed improved their league-best record to 9-1.

    Yukien Andrada contributed a double-double of his own with 12 points and 11 boards, while Tony Ynot got 11 points and three rebounds.

    Mark Sanosa paced the cellar-dwelling Brigadiers (1-9) with 15 points, four rebounds, and two assists, while JR Ilustrisimo had 12 points and eight rebounds.

    In the nightcap, Jose Rizal University edged Letran, 89-81.

    Condrad Famaranco led the Light Bombers with 22 points, four assists, four steals, and three rebounds, while Gholam Garcia had 18 points and eight boards to snap their three-game losing skid and improve to an even 5-5.

    CJ Saure carried the load for the Squires with 28 points and five rebounds, as Shawn Umali had 18 points and six boards in the defeat to fall to 4-6.
