JOEL Cagulangan flirted with a triple-double as CSB-La Salle Greenhills coasted to its eighth straight victory with a 96-82 triumph over Perpetual to remain at the pole position of the NCAA Season 94 juniors' basketball tournament on Thursday at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The do-it-all playmaker had nine points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists, and also made four steals as the Greenies rose to 9-1.
RC Calimag continued his tear, topscoring for CSB-LSGH with 23 points, seven rebounds and three steals, while Inand Fornilos registered a double-double of 16 points and 10 boards.
Sydney Mosqueda also had 12 in the win.
Perpetual dropped to joint fourth place with JRU at 5-5.
Ezdel Galoy led the Junior Altas with 19 points, nine rebounds and three steals, while Shawn Orgo had 17 points, eight assists, five boards and three steals.
Despite another defeat, Perpetual coach Mike Saguitguit remained firm on his decision to suspend top guy Joshua Gallano and teammates Jasper Coloma and Ezekiel Agbayani for the rest of the season as a "disciplinary action for not following the rules of the school."
"Masyadong malaki yung pagkakawala ni Gallano, pero naging maganda rin ang takbo kasi na-realize ng mga player na it's not all about basketball. Naging maayos lalo yung samahan nila dun," he said.
"Nakikita ko yung ibang players na nag-step up and they are playing as a team."
