    Jearelan Omandac sparks early surge and Jr Pirates cruise past struggling Braves

    LYCEUM rode on its hot start to dismantle skidding Arellano, 105-84, to fan its Final Four chances in the NCAA Season 81 juniors basketball tournament on Thursday at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

    Jearelan Omandac fueled the Junior Pirates' blazing 18-2 opener as they jumped on the Braves and took a lead as high as 25. He dropped eight of his 23 points in that opening frame, while also grabbing 14 rebounds and two assists.

    John Barba had a double-double of 20 points and 10 boards with three assists, while Mac Guadana contributed 18 points, six assists, two steals, two blocks and an assist.

    Bernard de Guia added 16 points and eight boards, while Joshua Jugar got 12 points, three assists and two rebounds.

    Lyceum improved to an even 7-7 record to stay in solo fifth place and still within striking distance of a semifinal spot.

    Rom Junsay led Arellano with 19 points, five assists, four rebounds, three steals and a rejection, while Lars Sunga added 17 points and 17 boards.

    Marlon Espiritu had 18 and four, as Aaron Fermin was limited to just nine points on a 4-of-10 shooting from the field, to go with his 15 rebounds as the Braves fell to 5-8.
