THERE'S more to CSB-La Salle Greenhills than just Joel Cagulangan.

Inand Fornilos proved just that this past week, as he kept the Greenies on top of the standings in the juniors basketball tournament in the 94th season of the NCAA.

Last season’s Rookie of the Year lit up for 26 points, his best offensive game to date, on top of 14 rebounds, two assists, and a block in CSB-LSGH’s 103-71 rout of EAC-Immaculate Concepcion Academy on Tuesday.

He then set the tone for the Greenies’ 74-66 triumph over fellow contender Arellano, finishing with eight points, 12 rebounds and two assists.

It’s no surprise that Fornilos claimed the top spot in Week 6 of the Chooks-to-Go/NBTC NCAA 24 rankings, the second CSB-LSGH player to nab the honor following Cagulangan, who had made it to the top spot twice.

Fornilos was also this week’s biggest mover, moving up 10 spots from 11 to the pole position.

Staying at second place was JRU’s John Amores, who continues to pace the Light Bombers in their head-turning ascent to the top three.

Last week’s No. 1 Clint Escamis of Mapua drops to third place, Cagulangan rose to fourth, while Red Robin Jonnel Policarpio rounded out the top five.

Completing the top 10 are CSB-LSGH’s Joshua David at six, Arellano slotman Aaron Fermin at seven, Mapua’s Dan Arches at eight, San Sebastian sniper Milo Janao at nine, and Red Robin Paolo Hernandez at 10.

Perpetual forward Joshua Gallano suffered the biggest drop, falling from fourth place to 16th.

This year, there will be three separate editions of the NBTC 24 – one for the NCAA, one for the UAAP, and one for the CESAFI – to accommodate the Juniors calendar for the whole year.

After all three editions have been completed, a final list composing the top 24 players nationwide will then be chosen to participate in the annual NBTC All-Star Game in March.
