GAME in and game out, Clint Escamis is proving himself to be one of the best players in the NCAA 94 Juniors Basketball Tournament.
With another stint atop the rankings of the Chooks-to-Go/NBTC NCA 24, Escamis has yet another proof as to his status.
The graduating guard tallied an all-around 24 points, six rebounds, five assists, and four steals in Mapua’s well-earned win over Letran – a win that tightened their grasp on the second spot in the standings at the end of the first round.
With that, Escamis now leads all players with the most number one rankings at three – one better than next closest Joel Cagulangan of rival LSGH.
Meanwhile, Cagulangan dropped out of the top five and now stands at sixth – his lowest thus far.
Conversely, making the biggest leap ever in the rankings is San Beda’s Kent Pelipel. From out of the 24 a week ago, the rookie guard shot to second-place behind per game counts of 23 points and two rebounds in the Red Cubs’ back-to-back wins. That included a 29-point, 9-triple, game-winning masterpiece over modern-day rival Arellano just last Friday.
Completing the top five are Joshua David of LSGH, John Amores of JRU, and another Greenie in RC Calimag.
Falling behind Cagulangan at sixth are then his LSGH teammate Inand Fornilos, Red Robins Jonnel Policarpio and Dan Arches, and Braves’ pillar Aaron Fermin.

This year, there will be three separate editions of the NBTC 24 – one for the NCAA, one for the UAAP, and one for the CESAFI – to accommodate the Juniors calendar for the whole year.
After all three editions have been completed, a final list composing the top 24 players nationwide will then be chosen to participate in the annual NBTC All-Star Game in March.
