PERPETUAL stunned perennial contender San Beda, 72-69, on Sunday to open the NCAA Season 94 juniors basketball tournament at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Ezdel Galoy received the perfect pass from playmaker Mark Gallano with 4.9 seconds remaining and drained the biggest of his 16 points, giving the Junior Altas the 71-69 edge.
Perpetual’s John Duka stole the ball from Zach Estacio in the ensuing possession, leading to Yukihiro Kawamura icing the game with a split from the foul line with 1.2 ticks left to shock the Red Cubs.
Galoy scattered six of his 16 in that final period, on top of seven rebounds and two steals, while Gallano also had 16 points with four boards and four dimes.
