KARL Santos has been tabbed as the new head coach of the La Salle Greenhills basketball team.
Sources close to the situation confirmed that the young deputy has been promoted following the resignation of Marvin Bienvenida last Thursday to focus on the job as LSGH athletic director.
Santos served as an assistant for Bienvenida for the last three years and was a part of the Greenies' championship team back in the NCAA Season 93 juniors' basketball tournament, while also coaching the LSGH team in the Passerelle.
He will be joined by Anton Brodett, Andrew Estrella and Jacob Manlapaz in his staff as the Greenies embark on a new era led by Batang Gilas mainstay RC Calimag and guards Lennox Valenzuela and Kobe Palencia.
LSGH is the fifth NCAA high school squad to make a coaching change in the offseason.
Mapua hired Yong Garcia to take the helm for the champions Red Robins following Randy Alcantara's appointment to the Cardinals; San Beda tapped Manu Inigo to be the head coach for the Red Cubs to succeed JB Sison; Ian Sangco has also been appointed as the new shot-caller for the Lyceum Junior Pirates after LA Mumar; and interim Chiefs coach Junjie Ablan replaced Tylon Darjuan as the head coach for the Braves.
