THE National Basketball League bared on Friday that it is looking at playing its 2021 season under a closed-circuit system.
The NBL said it is now coordinating with the Games and Amusements Board (GAB) for the conduct of the 2021 season in which teams in the men’s and women’s divisions will be strictly monitored in a home-venue-home set-up.
Spectators will still not be allowed inside the venue and strict health protocols will be followed during the games. Guidelines on the conduct of practices are also being formulated, according to the league.
The NBL is gearing up for its first full season as a professional league in both the men’s and women’s division.
A regional league for homegrown talents, the NBL finished its season last year under a bubble set-up that saw the Pampanga Delta and La Union PAOwer fight for the championship at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center in San Fernando, Pampanga.
The Delta won the series, 3-1.
The WNBL’s first season as a pro league, meanwhile, is also set to open this year with the draft combine last November jumpstarting preseason activities.
Teams in both the men’s and women’s division have also begun their planning sessions in preparation for the league’s resumption this year.
