NBA fans got a surprise on Thursday (Friday, Manila time) when Zaza Pachulia was almost voted as a starter for the 2016 NBA All-Star Game.

Pachulia got 768,112 votes from fans for fourth place, nearly 14,000 short of third placer Kawhi Leonard of the San Antonio Spurs who made it along with Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers and Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Pachulia even earned almost 42,000 more votes than Golden State Warriors’ Draymond Green, who led Leonard for the third starting spot in the West's All-Star frontcourt up until the third returns were announced.

Pachulia also had 117,000 more votes than Blake Griffin of the Los Angeles Clippers.

Fans voted online by typing the name of the player with #NBAVote on social media accounts.

Green is averaging 14.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 7.4 assists for the Warriors. On the other hand, Pachulia is having a career resurgence in Dallas, with respectable 10.5 points and 10.8 rebounds averages for the Mavericks.
