BRANDAN Wright scored 19 points in his season debut for the Mavericks and Jose Calderon added 18 as Dallas overcame the absence of Dirk Nowitzki and coach Rick Carlisle to overcome the Milwaukee Bucks 106-93 Saturday night (Sunday, Manila time).
Both Nowitzki and Carlisle missed the game due to an undisclosed illness.
Wright, coming back from a shoulder injury that caused him to miss 23 games, scored seven straight points in a 19-5 run that placed the Mavs ahead in the second quarter. Shawn Marion finished with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Vince Carter added 15 points and nine assists.
John Henson led the Bucks with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Brandon Knight scored 16.
