THE Washington Wizards unleashed a balanced attack along with a stifling defense to hand the Oklahoma City Thunder a 22-point beating, 120-98, at the Verizon Center on Monday (Tuesday, Manila time).

Markieff Morris led six Wizards in double figures with 23 points, and got going early to put Washington up 22-6 in the first period before Oklahoma City cut the deficit to three near the midway point of the second. John Wall, who finished with a double-double of 15 points and 14 assists, then led a strong 17-7 finish to take a 67-54 lead at the half.

Washington stepped up their play on both ends of the floor with a sizzling 26-5 start after the break to lead by as much as 34. The Thunder could only manage to come as close as 20 the rest of the way as top gunner Russell Westbrook struggled with just 5-of-19 shooting to finish with 17 points.
